California : San Diego : Latham & Watkins : Getting in the Door

Getting in the Door
I've been highly successful in law school, and I generally meet all of Latham's qualifications save one; that being I am not at a Top 10-25 school. I've accepted a federal clerkship in an effort to make myself more marketable, but I understand that most Latham associates were also once federal clerks. In short, does anyone have a suggestion on what would help in getting Latham to give my resume a hard look, i.e., passing the initial screening. Thank you.

Getting in the door
If you are a law review student or near the top of your class, being from a 2nd tier law school shouldn't keep you out. Doing a federal clerkship will help. I haven't found that "most" Latham associates were once federal clerks. It would help if you have a clear geographical tie to the office of your choice. Good luck
