New York : New York : Sidley & Austin : general misgivings

general misgivings
I am considering Sidley Austin Brown and Wood, New York. However, I have heard that it is not a good place to work since Sidley Austin and Brown & Wood have merged.

I would like some information to confirm or rebut this.

Specifically, I heard that Brown & Wood new hires are finding it a difficult place to navigate. Standards of recruiting have changed. People hired by Brown and Wood are receiving less respect and less opportunities. They are not being given credit for their work history with the firm, on the excuse that their records were destroyed in the world trade center attack.

They are being treated as expendable.

Is this true? Thank you.

I don't know where you got this information, but it's flat out false. I've been there for over a year and EVERYONE is treated with respect as far as I can tell. When people say this is a collegial firm, it's not our "talking points"-- it's true. As far as the effect of the merger, it's only helped both firms. The combined firm is a more balanced firm than either of its pre-merger counterparts.
