diddy -- I'm not sure I have enough basis for giving you a definitive answer. My *impression* is that IP lawyers in a firm keep a more consistent schedule than their litigation brethren and sistren. And for me, that consistency is a QOL "plus." But IP lawyers may disagree with me, and I don't have hard data to back up my impression.
